NEW YORK — [June 24, 2026] — Reveal Security, the insider threat platform for the AI era, today announced Dave McKinley as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). McKinley, who previously served as Reveal’s Chief Product Officer (CPO), takes the helm as enterprises race to secure the AI their employees are already putting to work.
McKinley succeeds Kevin Hanes, who is stepping down to pursue another opportunity after two years leading the company through its early stages. During his tenure, Reveal launched its insider threat platform built for the AI agents and tools the old insider threat playbook has no answer for, and established itself as a trusted partner to mid-market and enterprise security teams across North America.
“Dave has been the technical architect of where Reveal is headed. He understands this problem at a level few people do, and he has the product depth and the conviction to lead the company through what comes next,” said Kevin Hanes. “The market is finally catching up to what this team saw years ago, and Dave is an ideal leader to meet that moment. Handing him the reins is the most natural decision we could make.”
In his year and a half as CPO, McKinley built the platform’s expansion to detect and stop insider threats across the human-to-agent behavioral journey, covering every AI agent employees deploy, every tool they connect, and the human and service accounts that run alongside them. He brings more than two decades of product and engineering leadership across the cybersecurity industry to the role. Before Reveal, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Revelstoke, where he built security orchestration, automation, and response capabilities, and as Senior Director at Arctic Wolf, a leader in managed detection and response. Earlier he was CTO at BlackCloak, protecting executives and their digital lives, and Director of Platform Engineering at Dtex Systems, an insider threat company, where he worked on the problem years before the rest of the market arrived.
“Your humans have always been your insiders. Now they want AI, and they are going to get it one way or another, so AI is your insider too,” said Dave McKinley, CEO of Reveal Security. “We are standing on a foundation that was built for this problem years before the rest of the market arrived, and now we are putting it to work for the people who need it most. For the security teams and organizations who want to embrace AI without lying awake at night, this is the kind of challenge I have spent my whole career building toward. I think it is going to be a lot of fun, and I could not be more excited about where we take Reveal from here.”
About Reveal Security
Reveal Security is the insider threat platform for the AI era. As employees connect AI tools and deploy agents that authenticate with their credentials and inherit their permissions, the new insider threat is the behavioral journey between humans and the AI they put to work. Reveal makes that journey observable across SaaS, cloud, and internal systems and stops threats automatically the moment authorized activity drifts off course. Reveal is headquartered in New York.
